About Us

S.R. Tayal, Counsul General of India, initiated the discussion to launch Indo-American Chamber of Oklahoma. He met with Satish Kohli, Prakash Musapeta, Billy Devan, Hari Musapeta and Manohar Lal.

At our first official function, Republic Day, S.R. Tayal, emphasized the importance of Indo-American Chamber of Oklahoma.

After several newspaper publications and television interviews the Chamber was officially launched on June 20, 2003. The event was well represented by US Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma State Department of Commerce, Tulsa County Chamber of Commerce, Congressman’s Chief of Staff, local American and Native American Indian, as well as, Asian Indian Businesses, S.R. Tayal was keynote speaker. Welcome address was given by Hari Musapeta, lunch was catered by India Palace and Murali Lyengar was moderator.

Our many informative speakers have included Kirby Crow Vision 20/25 (twice), Clay Bird, Director of Development and Planning, Office of the Mayor, City of Tulsa, Communication and Business, by De. Melanie Rich, Clinical Psychologist, Export Programs & Solutions, Collaboration Opportunity between Oklahoma and India by Dr. Ramesh Sharda Regents professor and Conoco Phillips Chair, Director Institute for Research in Information Systems, Mellonie Lawlis, International Sales Consultant, International Payments for Exporters and Imports and John Blue Oklahoma Small Business Development Center presented SBA Loan, Overview of Business Financing. Mathew Clifton, Assistant V.P. from Bank One presented International Banking, Finance, and International Treasury Services, Export/Import Bank of US Speaker from IBC on How to set-up International Banking. Mr. Lansing Lee presented Grants Available for Profit and Non-profit Organizations, and Dr. D’Souza, Director of Research & Evaluation, Div. of Student Affairs at Wichita State University spoke on Outsourcing, and how it is Impacting India and the United States. Dr. Robert Butkin, Treasurer for the State of Oklahoma who spoke about the SBA’s Business Loan, Investment, Bonding, and Minority Programs. Rohit Sharma, attorney taught us about Estate Planning, along with Wills and Trusts. Meta Fund Business Financing seminar presented by Daniel Mercer and spoke on Banking and Venture Capital Structures. David C. Serage, Commercial Loan Specialist, presented Business Finance & Development-Investment Bankers for Rural America, US Dept of Agriculture’s Rural Development Programs. Guy Thomas presented the seminar on How to do Business with Government, State Agencies or Other Corporations.

We were delighted and entertained by Vijai Nathan Comedy Show from NY. We held our Christmas Fund Raising Dinner and donated $500 to St. Jerome Food Panty and announced the new board for 2005. We had a “Get Acquainted” meeting with IACCO members at Indian Corner. Our Chamber attended and supported the Houston Gala and the Tampa Bay Gala and will be represented in Atlanta, we will also be part of the India Trade Delegation in November.
